## Can you have multiple eBay accounts?

Yes. eBay's multiple accounts policy says users may have multiple accounts, for example one for buying and one for selling, as long as each has its own email address and username. Opening or using another account to get around a restriction or limit on the first is not allowed.

eBay is one of the marketplaces that says yes in writing. Its multiple accounts policy opens the allowed list with "Users may have multiple accounts on eBay" and gives two reasons it expects: one account for buying and one for selling, or separate accounts for different product lines ([Multiple accounts policy](https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/identity-policies/multiple-accounts-policy?id=4232), read 2 November 2026). So you can have multiple eBay accounts. What eBay controls is how they behave towards each other.

eBay's terms allow several accounts per person, each held to the same buying and selling policies (link above, read 2 November 2026). Mosaic keeps accounts you are entitled to run apart; it does not change what a platform allows.

## What eBay allows, and what it does not

The policy page has one line under "Allowed" and one under "Not allowed". The second reads: "Registering new accounts or using other existing accounts to avoid buying and selling restrictions or limits or other policy consequences." That covers the obvious case, a new account opened after a suspension, and the less obvious one: moving your selling to an account you already had because the main one was given a limit.

eBay's account help adds three practical rules ([Creating an eBay account](https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/business-policy/business-policies?id=4191), read 2 November 2026):

1. Every additional account needs a different email address and a different username.
2. You "can't use more than one account for activity related to the same listing". eBay's own examples are bidding on the same item from two accounts and bidding on an item you sell from another account.
3. An email address moved from one account to another has to be removed from the first, and then waits 60 days before the second can use it.

| | Allowed by eBay | Not allowed |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A buying account and a selling account | Yes | |
| A store per product line | Yes | |
| Two accounts on one email address | | Each needs its own |
| Two accounts bidding on one listing | | Any activity on the same listing |
| A new account after a restriction | | Avoiding restrictions, limits or policy consequences |

## A restriction can follow you to every account

This is the line sellers miss. "If we apply restrictions or limits to one account, then similar restrictions or limits may be applied to the member's other linked accounts." eBay also expects you to resolve issues and bring an account back into good standing "before continuing to buy or sell with other accounts".

So a second eBay account is not a backup plan. Each one carries its own feedback, its own selling limits and its own seller standards, and a problem on one can land on all of them. eBay's FAQ on the same page confirms the split works the way most people want it to: a buying account and a selling account can be used "in whatever way works best for you", but "you'll need to meet our buyer and seller standards across all your accounts".

If eBay ties an account to yours that is not yours, the policy gives the route: contact eBay to appeal. How marketplaces tie accounts together in the first place, from cookies to payment details, is laid out in [how websites detect multiple accounts](https://mosaicbrowser.com/guides/how-do-websites-detect-multiple-accounts).

## How to open a second eBay account

eBay's steps are short. Sign out of the account you are using, go to the registration page, and register again with a new email address and username. A business seller picks **Create a business account** and adds the business name and type.

The work starts after that. Two accounts in one browser share one set of cookies, so the account that answers a buyer, revises a price or watches a listing is whichever one signed in last. On eBay that matters more than elsewhere, because one account's activity on the other's listing is exactly what rule 2 forbids. The day-to-day setup, from browser profiles to labelling which account is which, is in [how to manage multiple eBay accounts](https://mosaicbrowser.com/guides/manage-multiple-ebay-accounts).

## Where Mosaic fits

Mosaic gives each account you run its own browser profile: its own cookies, its own saved logins and its own fingerprint, on Tesseract Chrome, our own Chromium. Your buying account and your vintage store never share a window, so a message or a bid always goes out from the account you meant. Each account's two-factor setup key can sit in its own profile's credential vault, and the companion inside that browser shows that account's codes only.

What Mosaic cannot do is make two accounts unrelated in eBay's eyes. eBay does not publish how it links accounts, and its policy expects to link them. That is fine for the uses eBay allows, which are the only ones we build for. A seller with eBay stores next to Amazon or Etsy accounts has more rules to read, one per marketplace, and [our page for ecommerce sellers](https://mosaicbrowser.com/use-cases/ecommerce) lists what each profile needs.

Running two or three eBay accounts fits in Mosaic Free, which is 3 profiles and 10 profile creations; [Pro](https://mosaicbrowser.com/pricing) is $49 a month with no limit on profiles.

## Questions

### How many eBay accounts can one person have?

eBay's policy does not give a number. It says users may have multiple accounts and expects every one of them to meet its buyer and seller standards.

### Can two eBay accounts use the same email address?

No. Each extra account needs a different email address and a different username. To move an address from one account to another you remove it from the first and wait 60 days before adding it to the second.

### Can I bid on my own listing from my other eBay account?

No. eBay's account help says you can't use more than one account for activity related to the same listing, which includes bidding on an item you are selling from another account.

### Does eBay know my accounts belong to the same person?

Its policy is written on the assumption that it can: a restriction on one account may be applied to the member's other linked accounts. If you think eBay linked an account to yours in error, its policy says to contact eBay to appeal.
