## How to get approval for a second Amazon seller account

To get approval for a second Amazon seller account, you need a legitimate business need, such as a separate brand run as a separate business, and every account in good standing. Amazon's policy states that condition rather than a form, so ask Selling Partner Support before you register.

Getting approval for a second Amazon seller account is mostly a matter of having a case Amazon recognises before you register. The Seller Code of Conduct allows one Seller Central account for each region you sell in "unless you have a legitimate business need to open a second account and all of your accounts are in good standing" ([Selling policies and seller code of conduct](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/external/G1801), read 2 November 2026). On the day we read it, that page set out the condition and did not describe a request form. So the work is to make the need real and written down, then confirm it with Amazon before the second account exists.

Mosaic keeps accounts you are entitled to run apart; it does not change what Amazon allows. Everything up to the last section of this page happens in Seller Central, not in a browser.

## What Amazon counts as a legitimate business need

The same policy page gives three examples:

- You own multiple brands and maintain separate businesses for each.
- You manufacture products for two distinct and separate companies.
- You are recruited for an Amazon program that requires separate accounts.

Amazon's news account added a concrete one in the Seller Forums: a seller with one registered brand that sells soap and another that sells pet food "can maintain two accounts to simplify management", each with its own storefront name ([Account health tips for multiple selling accounts](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/6a7fbcfc-1ed4-42b0-a382-d2b8d61e1c47), read 2 November 2026). In the same thread a seller who owns two accounts quoted what Amazon wrote back about them: one company "maintains a more diverse product catalog" and "each business is registered under a different legal entity". That is one seller's report, not a rule, but it points the same way as the examples: two real businesses.

What is missing from the list says as much. A spare account in case the first is suspended, a second storefront for the same products, or an account for a different price point of the same brand are not there.

## Check you are not solving a different problem

Several reasons people give for a second account already have an Amazon answer that needs no approval.

| What you want | What Amazon offers instead |
| --- | --- |
| An assistant or co-owner working in the account | Their own login under Settings › User Permissions, on the Professional plan ([Set and edit user permissions](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/external/G901), read 2 November 2026) |
| Selling in Europe as well as North America | A regional account for Europe, which the one-per-region rule already allows |
| Taking over another seller's account | Not possible: Amazon says accounts "generally are not transferable" and a new owner "must establish a new seller account" ([Can I transfer my seller account?](https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/external/G200506000), read 2 November 2026) |
| A fresh start after a deactivation | The appeal on the deactivated account; a new account is what the rule forbids |

If your reason is in that table, you do not need approval for a second account. You need the tool in the right-hand column.

## How to ask for approval, step by step

1. **Write the need in one sentence.** For example: "Brand B is sold by B Ltd, a separate company with its own registration, bank account and storefront name." If you cannot write it without the word "also", the case is probably weak.
2. **Gather the evidence.** Registration documents for each business, the brand registrations if you have them, and the program invitation if Amazon recruited you.
3. **Check every existing account's Account Health page.** The rule needs all accounts in good standing, so clear anything outstanding first.
4. **Ask Selling Partner Support from your existing account** before you register the second. Describe the need, attach what supports it, and ask whether a second account is appropriate. Keep the case number and the reply.
5. **Register the second account with the second business's own details**, matching what you told support.
6. **Keep the reason true.** The condition holds for as long as both accounts run. If the second business is wound up or merged, so is the reason for its account.

Approval in this sense is not a one-time stamp. Amazon can look at the need and at your accounts' standing at any point, and the policy's next sentence is the one to keep in mind: "If any of your accounts are not in good standing, we may deactivate all of your selling accounts until all accounts are in good standing."

## After approval: keep the two accounts from mixing

Two approved accounts are still related, so a problem in one can stop both. The day-to-day risk is smaller and more common: a flat file uploaded to the wrong account, a buyer answered from the wrong storefront, two businesses' settlement reports in one Downloads folder.

A Chrome profile per account splits the cookies and is free. In Mosaic, each account gets a full profile of its own: its own cookies, a fingerprint drawn from real hardware that matches the computer you work on, a steady proxy exit, and its own two-step codes in the companion.

Put each business in its own project and tag its profiles, so the two never sit in one list by accident.

## Questions

### Is there a form to request a second Amazon seller account?

The Seller Code of Conduct page we read on 2 November 2026 states the condition, a legitimate business need with every account in good standing, and does not describe a request form. Ask Selling Partner Support from your existing account and keep the case number.

### Does a second brand count as a legitimate business need?

It can. Amazon's first example is owning multiple brands and maintaining separate businesses for each. A second brand sold by the same business, from the same storefront, is a weaker case than a separate company.

### Can I open a second account as a backup in case the first is suspended?

No. A backup is not among Amazon's examples, and the policy says that if any account is not in good standing Amazon may deactivate all of them, so a second account shares the first one's risk instead of hedging it.

### Do I need a second account to sell in Europe as well as the US?

No. The rule is one Seller Central account for each region you sell in, so a Europe account alongside a North America account is not a second account in the same region.
