## How many YouTube channels can you have?

YouTube says you can manage up to 100 channels from one Google Account: one personal channel plus channels on Brand Accounts. Adding more channels is listed as an advanced feature, so a new, unverified account may not get there straight away.

![100: Channels one Google Account can manage](https://mosaicbrowser.com/covers/how-many-youtube-channels-can-you-have.webp)

YouTube's own figure is 100. Its page on [switching between channels](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3046356) opens with the sentence "You can manage up to 100 channels from one Google Account." That count covers your personal channel, the one named after your Google Account, plus every channel you create on a Brand Account. There is no rule against having several. The rules are about what the channels do.

YouTube allows one person many channels, and it forbids using another channel to get around a strike, a restriction or a termination. Mosaic keeps accounts you are entitled to run apart; it does not change what a platform allows.

## How many YouTube channels you can have on one Google Account

Two kinds of channel sit under one sign-in, and YouTube's [Create a YouTube channel](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1646861) page describes both:

- A personal channel, "a channel that only you can manage". You create it from Settings, Add or manage channel(s). It carries your Google Account's name unless you change it.
- A channel with a business or other name, made from your channel list with Create a new channel. YouTube's words: "This creates a new Brand Account." Each Brand Account holds one channel; if a Brand Account "already has a channel, you can't create a new one."

So the second through hundredth channels are Brand Accounts. Since 4 August 2021, new Brand Accounts work only with YouTube and are labelled "(limited to YouTube)", per [Manage your Brand Account](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7001996). A Brand Account can have several owners and managers, which is why it is also the route for handing a channel to someone else.

## Why YouTube may not let you add another channel yet

The ceiling is 100, but the door to the second channel is not open on day one for everyone. YouTube's [feature access table](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9890437) puts "Add additional channels to your account" in the advanced tier. Standard features come with any channel that has no active strike. Intermediate features need a verified phone number. Advanced features need that phone verification plus "sufficient channel history" or a check with a valid ID or a short video.

Channel history, as [YouTube defines it](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9891124), is your uploads, live streams and audience engagement, and also data about your Google Account: "When and how your account was created", how often it is used and "Your method of connecting to Google services." Most active channels already have it. Studio shows where you stand under Settings, Channel, Feature eligibility.

The same page lists what delays or reduces access. Two items are about running several channels:

- "Posting the same content repeatedly across one or more channels".
- "Maintaining channels that are related to another policy-violating channel (for example, a repeat spammer or scammer who owns multiple channels)".

## When more than one channel is against the rules

A channel that exists to dodge enforcement is the line YouTube draws. Its [terminations page](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2802168) says that if a channel is terminated, "you are prohibited from using, possessing, or creating any other YouTube channels", and that this applies to existing channels, new ones "you create or acquire", and channels where you are "repeatedly or prominently featured." The [strike rules](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2802032) say the same about a restricted channel for as long as the restriction lasts.

None of that limits a creator with a main channel, a gaming channel and a channel for their shop. It does mean a second channel is never a fix for a strike on the first.

## Running several channels on one computer

One Google Account with ten channels is one sign-in, one set of cookies and one switcher. YouTube lets you use one channel at a time, and the profile picture in the top right shows which one is active. For your own channels that is enough, and the switcher steps are in [how to manage multiple YouTube channels](https://mosaicbrowser.com/guides/manage-multiple-youtube-channels).

It stops being enough when channels belong to different people. A client's channel should sit under the client's Google Account, with you invited through channel permissions, and the Google sign-ins for different clients should not share a browser. The free fix is a Chrome profile per Google Account, and [Chrome profiles vs an anti-detect browser](https://mosaicbrowser.com/guides/chrome-profiles-vs-anti-detect-browser) explains what that separates and what it leaves shared, such as the machine and the address every profile reports.

![The Mosaic profiles table: names, coloured tags, proxy locations and a Start button on each row](https://mosaicbrowser.com/shots/profiles-list.png)
*One profile per Google Account, each with its own cookies*

In Mosaic each Google Account gets its own profile: its own fingerprint, its own cookies and, if you give it one, its own proxy exit, with timezone and language drawn from that exit. Profiles can claim any desktop OS or Android, and the closest match is the OS your computer runs. Mosaic does not create channels or upload anything; it keeps the sign-ins apart. The same idea for the Gmail inboxes behind those channels is in [how to manage multiple Gmail accounts](https://mosaicbrowser.com/guides/manage-multiple-gmail-accounts), and agency set-ups are on [Mosaic for social media managers](https://mosaicbrowser.com/use-cases/social-media-managers).

## Questions

### Can I have two YouTube channels on one Google account?

Yes. Your Google Account has one personal channel, and every further channel is created on a Brand Account from your channel list. YouTube's switching page puts the ceiling at 100 channels per Google Account.

### Does having several YouTube channels break the rules?

No. YouTube lets one account manage many channels. What its policies forbid is using another channel to get around a strike, restriction or termination, and posting the same content repeatedly across channels.

### Why can't I add another channel to my account?

YouTube lists Add additional channels to your account under advanced features, which need phone verification plus either enough channel history or an ID or video check. Feature eligibility in YouTube Studio shows what your channel has.

### Do my YouTube channels share subscribers or watch history?

No. Each channel has its own subscribers, uploads and history, and on YouTube you use one channel at a time. Switching changes which channel your likes, comments and uploads belong to.

### Can a manager run more than 100 channels?

The 100 figure is what one Google Account can manage. Channels you were invited to through channel permissions are reached from YouTube Studio, and YouTube's help pages do not say whether they count toward it.
