Managing multiple eBay accounts comes down to three habits: one email and username per account, one browser profile per account, and 2-step verification on all of them. The rule that sinks careful sellers is the fourth: two of your accounts must never act on the same listing.
eBay's terms allow several accounts per person, held to the same buying and selling policies (Multiple accounts policy, read 2 November 2026). Mosaic keeps accounts you are entitled to run apart; it does not change what a platform allows. Whether a second account is allowed for your case is answered in can you have multiple eBay accounts.
Give every account its own email and username
eBay requires it. Its account help says you can open more than one account "as long as you use different email addresses and usernames for each additional account" (Creating an eBay account, read 2 November 2026). Pick the email with the account's future in mind, because changing your mind later is slow: an address removed from one eBay account cannot be added to another for 60 days.
A naming scheme saves confusion at the fourth account. Put the store's name in both the username and the label of its browser profile, so "oak-and-iron" on eBay is "eBay - Oak and Iron" on the computer.
Keep each account signed in to its own browser
Two accounts in one browser share one cookie jar. eBay's own instruction for opening a second account starts with "sign out of the account you're currently using", and every switch after that is another sign-out and sign-in. Skip it once and the account that answers a buyer or revises a price is whichever one signed in last.
The options, from free to paid, in order of how far they separate things:
- A second browser: Safari for one account, Chrome for the other. Fine for two accounts, awkward at three.
- A Chrome profile per account: separate cookies, history and saved passwords, each in its own window. For two to four accounts of your own on one computer this is often enough; managing multiple accounts on one computer has the steps.
- An anti-detect browser profile per account: each profile also gets its own fingerprint and, if you want one, its own proxy exit. That matters when the accounts belong to different people, such as a client's store next to yours, or when a store sells into another country.
What none of them changes is eBay's view of who you are. eBay's policy says a restriction on one account "may be applied to the member's other linked accounts", and eBay does not publish how it decides accounts are linked. A profile keeps your sessions straight; it is not a wall between you and eBay.

Never let two accounts touch one listing
eBay's account help is specific: "you can't use more than one account for activity related to the same listing", with bidding on your own item from another account as the example. Browser profiles make this easier to keep, because your buying account's window has never been signed in to the store and cannot see its listings as "your own". The habit to watch is the casual one: a bid from your buying account on an item your store is selling is the example eBay gives, and an offer on it is activity on the same listing too.
Turn on 2-step verification on every account
eBay's security tips page "strongly recommend[s]" 2-step verification and offers three methods: an eBay app push notification, a code by text message, or a 6-digit code from an authenticator app (Tips for keeping your eBay account secure, read 2 November 2026). The setting is under your name › Account settings › Sign in and security › Edit next to 2 Step Verification.
With several accounts, the authenticator app is the method that scales. Each account gets its own entry, so name every entry with the eBay username rather than "eBay". The same page lets you mark a device as trusted with Remember this device, up to 100 per account.
Meet the standards on all of them
The part of the policy that decides whether multiple accounts are worth it: "you'll need to meet our buyer and seller standards across all your accounts". eBay also expects you to resolve problems and bring an account back into good standing "before continuing to buy or sell with other accounts". A second store you neglect is a risk to the first.
How to manage multiple eBay accounts in Mosaic
Mosaic gives each eBay account its own profile on Tesseract Chrome, our own Chromium: its own cookies, saved logins, downloads and fingerprint.
- Click New project and call it "eBay", so every eBay profile sits together.
- Click New profile for each account and give it a tag such as
ebay. A filter on the tag then lists only your stores. - Leave the proxy empty for a store run from home; the profile then matches your computer's own location. For a store that sells into another country, attach a proxy there. Paste one gateway line from your proxy seller as a provider and each profile mints its own session there.
- Start the profile and sign in to one eBay account. Do not sign in to a second one in that window.
- In the profile editor, open the Logins tab, choose Add login, then Two-factor secret or notes, and paste the account's authenticator key if eBay's setup screen gives it to you as text. The companion inside that profile's browser then shows the 6-digit code for that account only.

Each profile saves downloads into its own folder, kept out of Spotlight and deleted with the profile, so one store's shipping labels and order reports never sit with another's.

Sellers with stores on Amazon or Etsy too will find the per-marketplace rules on our ecommerce page.
