TikTok put the answer in one sentence of its Community Guidelines, in the section on deceptive behaviour and fake engagement: "You can have multiple accounts—for example, for fan content or creative expression—but not to deceive others or break the rules" (Integrity and authenticity, read 2 November 2026). So you can have multiple TikTok accounts. TikTok's help pages give no maximum, and the app has an Add account button for exactly this.
Mosaic keeps accounts you are entitled to run apart; it does not change what a platform allows. Everything below is TikTok's rule, quoted from TikTok's own pages, and it applies to every account you hold, whatever device or browser it runs in.
Can you have multiple TikTok accounts for anything? What TikTok bans
The same paragraph that allows several accounts says what TikTok does when it finds "deceptive account behavior". It may ban the account, ban "additional or new accounts you create", or restrict the account, which "could include limiting your ability to post new content, appear in top search results, or in the FYF" (the For You feed). Two more sentences follow. TikTok strictly prohibits "automation tools, scripts, or other tricks designed to bypass our systems". And "If your account is restricted or banned, you may not create or use another account to get around it."
TikTok's help article on content violations and bans (read 2 November 2026) lists the second of those among its reasons to ban for good: "Create or use another TikTok account to intentionally avoid restrictions or a permanent ban imposed on another account." The same list includes an account that "exists solely to violate our rules".

One email or phone number per account
There is one practical limit, and it decides how you set up a second account. TikTok's article on creating an account (read 2 November 2026) says: "Each phone number, email address, and social media account can only be linked to one TikTok account." A second account needs an email address or phone number the first one does not use.
The same article shows how to keep both on one phone. In the TikTok app, tap Profile, tap your nickname, then tap Add account to create another one or pick an account to switch to. The accounts then sit in one app, and you move between them without signing out.
Account types change who may use an account
A second TikTok account is often a business's, and TikTok has three account types (read 2 November 2026): General (personal), Verified Business and Organization. TikTok says anyone whose primary goal is to promote a product or service "should use a Verified Business Account". Organization Accounts are built for several people: administrators can revoke a member's permissions when that person leaves, so the account stays with the organisation.
That matters because of one line in TikTok's US Terms of Service (last updated 15 July 2026, read 2 November 2026): "Do not give others access to your account, or transfer your account to anyone else, without our permission." A password passed round an office is the thing that sentence rules out. For ad work, TikTok Business Center links TikTok accounts and gives each person a role; can you run multiple TikTok ad accounts has TikTok's own limits for that side.
Buying an account falls under the same sentence. A TikTok account bought from someone else is a transfer TikTok has not permitted, however the seller describes it.
Does TikTok know which accounts are yours?
Assume it can. TikTok's US privacy policy (last updated 15 July 2026, read 2 November 2026) lists what it collects from your device, including "your IP address, user agent, mobile carrier, time zone settings", the model of your device, your screen resolution and "keystroke patterns or rhythms". It adds: "We automatically assign device IDs and user IDs, and may use this and other information to identify your activity across devices."
Read that the right way round. TikTok allows several accounts per person, so two accounts being recognised as one person's costs nothing while they stay inside the rules. Where it bites is the case TikTok names: a second account opened after the first was restricted or banned. No browser should help with that, and Mosaic will not. Most large sites link accounts by the same few signals, and how websites detect multiple accounts walks through them.
Why people keep more than one TikTok account
The usual reasons are ordinary. A creator posts comedy on one account and keeps a private one for friends. A small shop runs a Verified Business Account while the owner keeps a personal one. A brand runs one account per language because the For You feed in Spain wants different videos from the one in Germany. A freelance social media manager holds their own account and works on three clients' accounts.
None of those accounts fakes engagement for another, and none stands in for a banned one. That is TikTok's test, and it is easy to pass by hand. The mistakes happen on a computer, where every account shares one browser and the last account you signed in to is the one that comments. Our set-up for keeping each account in its own browser, by hand and in Mosaic, is in how to run multiple TikTok accounts. For managers looking after accounts that belong to clients, Mosaic for social media managers shows a project per client with that client's two-factor codes kept beside each profile.
